Yesssss *drool*
After a loooong wait, finally Firefox 3.0 RC 1 is released!! All this time I refrained from upgrading to Firefox 3.0beta, for I fear that it's not yet into code-freeze. But with the official release of 3.0RC1, there is now no longer any reason to stay away!
Follow up:
Immediately I downloaded the installer, thankfully real fast from the Pancoran office (thanks to Speedy Office, hehe
). Installed to a new folder (Firefox 3) of course with a different profile (so if anything untoward happens, I can still fallback to Firefox 2)...
... and I ran smack-drab to my first surprise: Lots of plugins that had run well in Fx3b5... no longer runs in Fx3.0RC1! Waaaahhh
!! FireShot... Stylish... Greasemonkey... hiks hiks
apparently they are designed for 3b5 instead of 3.0.*. Thank God the Famous Five that I really need (AdBlock Plus, NoScript, FlashGot, DownThemAll, dan Foxmarks Beta) all support 3.0.* ... oh well, I hope the developers will update their extensions ASAP... I don't feel comfortable forcing them to be compatible (using Nightly Tester Tool; as of this writing, Mr.Tech Local Install is still not yet compatible, unless you want to manually edit its install.rdf)
OTOH... they worked on 3b5... and it is said that there was no API change from 3b5 to 3RC1... so it should be alrite to 'force' them using Nightly Tester Tool, right? . . . mmm but I still think it is better to wait for the developers to update... ![]()
At a glance RC1 felt faster than Fx3b5... which itself was already faster than Fx2... but then again, maybe because the Internet from this office is mighty fast today, hehehe
Well, we'll see what happen... just wait for more reports from me in this blog ![]()
